The A229 Plus records 2K+2K (both cameras at 2560×1440). The A229 Pro records 4K+2K (front at 3840×2160). Both use Sony STARVIS 2 sensors with identical HDR quality on the rear camera. The Pro includes a CPL filter; the Plus does not. If 2K resolution meets your needs, the Plus delivers outstanding value. If you want the highest possible front resolution or the Wirecutter-recommended camera, choose the Pro.
Is 2K resolution enough for a dash cam?
For most drivers, yes. 2K (2560×1440) with Sony STARVIS 2 captures sharp detail including license plates at normal following distances.
