The dashcam supports seamless connectivity to your smartphone via a USB2.0 Type-C to Type-C data cable, enabling superfast downloads of photos and videos. Specifically, the download speed is up to 20MB/s on iPhone 15. This direct connection also facilitates effortless firmware updates, ensuring access to the latest features and optimal performance.

It provides excellent image quality out of the box and can be expanded to a multi-camera system later — making it ideal for first-time dash cam buyers.

What is the difference between the A229 Plus 1CH and A229 Pro 1CH?

The A229 Plus 1CH records 2K with the IMX675 sensor. The A229 Pro 1CH records 4K with the larger IMX678 sensor. The Pro also includes a CPL filter in the box. Both share GPS, 5GHz Wi-Fi, voice control, and the same modular expansion options. Choose the Plus for value, the Pro for maximum resolution.

Can I add a rear camera later?

Yes. Add a standard rear camera, waterproof rear camera (RWC200), or telephoto camera (RTC320) at any time. Simply connect it to the front unit — the system detects the new camera automatically with no firmware changes.

How does the 2K IMX675 compare to budget 4K sensors?

The Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 delivers approximately 2.5× more dynamic range than first-generation sensors. Many budget '4K' dash cams use small, older sensors that produce noisy, washed-out footage in low light. The A229 Plus at 2K frequently outperforms these in real-world conditions — especially at night, in rain, and during tunnel transitions.

Is a CPL filter included?

No. The A229 Plus does not include a CPL filter — it is available as an optional accessory. If your dashboard is light-colored or reflective, a CPL filter is recommended to reduce windshield glare and improve footage clarity.

What microSD card should I use?
