VIOFO 2-Channel Dash Cams — Every Dual Configuration

Two cameras, one system, complete flexibility. VIOFO's 2-channel lineup covers every dual-camera configuration — from standard front + rear setups to specialized front + telephoto or front + waterproof combinations. Every system is built on Sony STARVIS 2 sensors with supercapacitor reliability, and every configuration is expandable to 3 channels later.

Choose Your Second Camera

VIOFO's modular architecture lets you pair a high-resolution front camera with the second camera that fits your needs:

  • Standard Rear Camera — Mounts inside the vehicle behind the rear windshield. The most popular choice for sedans and everyday drivers who want front + rear coverage.
  • Waterproof Rear Camera (IP67) — Mounts on the vehicle's exterior for trucks, SUVs, and trailers. No glass interference, no tint distortion — just a direct, clear view.
  • Telephoto Camera (4× Optical Zoom) — A dedicated license plate capture camera with true optical zoom. Reads plates at over 20 meters — critical for hit-and-run evidence.
  • Interior Cabin Camera (IR) — 210° fisheye lens with infrared night vision for full cabin documentation. Built for rideshare drivers and fleet monitoring.

Wirecutter-Recommended Performance

The VIOFO A229 Pro — named "The Best Dash Cam" by Wirecutter (The New York Times) — is available in this collection across multiple configurations. From the value-oriented A229 Plus (2K+2K) to the flagship A329S (4K 60fps + 2K with SSD storage up to 4TB), every 2-channel system shares the same modular platform. Start with two cameras today and add a third channel whenever you need it.

2-Channel FAQs

Which 2-channel configuration should I choose?
For most drivers, front + standard rear is the best starting point — it covers the road ahead and behind for rear-end collisions and parking incidents. Choose front + waterproof rear if your vehicle lacks a clear rear windshield (trucks, SUVs, trailers). Choose front + telephoto if license plate identification is your priority. Choose front + interior if you're a rideshare or taxi driver who needs cabin documentation.
Can I upgrade a 2-channel system to 3 channels later?
Yes. Every 2-channel system in this collection supports VIOFO's modular architecture. Simply connect an additional camera — rear, waterproof rear, interior, or telephoto — to the front unit to expand to 3 channels. No firmware changes, no hardware replacement needed.
What is the difference between the A229 Plus, A229 Pro, and A329S?
The A229 Plus records 2K+2K — the best value with Sony STARVIS 2 sensors on both channels. The A229 Pro records 4K+2K and was named 'The Best Dash Cam' by Wirecutter. The A329S is the flagship with 4K at 60fps, Wi-Fi 6, USB 3.0, and SSD storage up to 4TB for weeks of uninterrupted recording.
Do both cameras record with HDR?
Yes. Every VIOFO 2-channel system processes HDR on both the front and rear (or second) camera simultaneously. This is a key differentiator — many competing dual dash cams apply HDR only to the front channel, leaving the second camera with washed-out or underexposed footage.
What is the difference between standard rear and waterproof rear cameras?
The standard rear camera mounts inside the vehicle behind the rear windshield — simple installation with no exterior wiring. The waterproof rear (IP67) mounts on the vehicle's exterior, exposed to the elements. Choose waterproof when your rear windshield is tinted, obstructed, or nonexistent (trucks), or when you want the clearest possible rear footage without glass interference.
How does the telephoto configuration differ from a standard front + rear setup?
A standard rear camera records the wide scene behind your vehicle. The telephoto camera replaces the rear with a forward-facing 4× optical zoom camera that captures distant license plates in sharp 2K detail. You get two forward perspectives — a wide-angle view of the full road scene and a zoomed view for plate identification — instead of front and rear coverage.
