Frequently Asked Questions

SD Card Recommendation SD Card Capacity A129 Series Differences Firmware Update Rear Cable Length Rear camera
  • What SD Card is recommended for A129 Plus?
When it comes to choosing a microSD memory card, we only recommend VIOFO cards or Sandisk Max Endurance cards. This is essential for maximum compatibility and long-term stability. For more details, please refer to this blog: https://support.viofo.com/support/solutions/articles/19000133471-what-memory-card-is-recommended-for-a-viofo-dashcam-
  • What is the maximum SD card it supports?
A129 Plus supports microSD cards up to 256 GB. (Memory card format should be in FAT32 format.)
  • What are the differences among A129 series cameras?
You can refer to the following comparison blog for more details: https://www.viofo.com/en/blog/viofo-a129-series-comparison-b81.html
  • Why isn't my camera powering on?
Please use the original charger or the hardwire kit as the power supply. If you use a third-party cable, it may not provide enough power.
  • How to update the firmware?
① Take out the SD card from the camera and insert it into a computer. (Please format the SD card to FAT32 first.) ② Find the correct model, download and copy the bin file to the root directory of the micro SD card. https://www.viofo.com/pages/firmware. Note: The bin file can't be renamed, like FWA129SN.bin(1), it won't work with the camera. Please remove (1). ③ Eject the card from the computer, put the card back in the camera, and power the camera with the original car charger, instead of using the data cable connecting to the PC. ④ The power LED will blink while upgrading. When it completes, the camera will restart automatically.
  • Why does my dashcam have a beep sound?
If the camera continuously beeps, it means that the camera stops recording. Most of this issue is related to the SD card. Micro SD Cards play an important role in dashcams, but not all cards are suitable for use in dashcams. Using a non-recommended card may cause recording issues suddenly. We suggest you change your SD card to our recommended version to prevent any potential future issues. You may also deeply format your current card by this tool: https://viofo.com/download/guiformat.exe. After multiple tests and feedback from various channels, we currently only recommend original VIOFO cards and Sandisk MAX Endurance cards.
  • How long is the rear cable? Are there longer ones?
The standard rear cable is 6M. If you want a longer one, you can buy it through this link (Please make sure the rear cable for A129 Plus is different from A129 Pro/Duo): https://www.viofo.com/products/viofo-a129-series-rear-cable-for-dual-channel-models?_pos=4&_fid=e513a2b9c&_ss=c&variant=40863487164479
  • If I want a rear camera as backup or replacement, what should I buy?
You can buy this rear camera if needed: https://www.viofo.com/products/a129-plus-rear-camera-with-sony-starvis-image-sensor?_pos=2&_fid=e513a2b9c&_ss=c
  • Is HDR available for A129 Plus?
    It supports 1440P 30fps HDR.
  • If I buy the single cam A129 Plus, can I hook up the rear camera that came with my A129 Pro Duo?
The A129 Plus uses a different rear camera and cable.

Amazing

The overall quality and performance per money is well worth it. I wish the WiFi speed was better when transferring data although it could have been improved in more modern units.

A129 Plus Duo Dash-Cam

My old Aukey DR02 Dual was starting to stutter and freeze after 7 years in 3 different cars, so I figured it was time for an upgrade.
Technology has moved on quite a bit in the past 7 years and my online searches showed that Viofo is in the forefront.
I really liked the stealth/wedge design of the Aukey dash-cam, and I must have checked out every major manufacturer of dash-cams while searching for a suitable replacement.
Finding that Viofo had the same wedge design that I liked, had me searching deeper. At one stage, I came across an issue and emailed Viofo direct. I got a satisfactory answer within 24 hours, which indicated to me that the support was also there.
Eventually, I settled on the A129 Plus Duo, as it ticked all the boxes as to what I required in a dash-cam. To eliminate any possible incompatability with memory cards, I also ordered the 256GB Viofo card to go with the camera, along with the CPL-100 filter to deal with the glare from the dashboard.
The video quality from the 2K front camera is stunning, and the Full HD from the rear camera is almost as good. It's hard sometimes to tell the difference between the resolutions on an ordinary PC/laptop.
I do have the Viofo MT1 Dual Channel Full HD dash-cam unit on my motorcycle for the past couple of years, and it has worked flawlessly, so upgrading my car dash-cam with a Viofo seemed a natural transition in hindsight.
I've only had the A129 Plus Duo for a little over a month now, and if it keeps working as it has over the past few weeks, I will be very happy.
Fitting was a breeze, extras/spares are available, and support appears to be good.
The app can be laggy, but if you don't expect it to operate at lightening speed - it works well.
From me, a full 5 stars for both my MT1 Dual Channel Full HD motorcycle dash-cam and the new A129 Plus Duo for my car.

Good camera- app sucks

The camera build is nice. Easy use and installation. Steps are pretty straightforward.
But the app needs serious work. Laggy/choppy. I wish they fix it and make it more User friendly!
